WILHELMINA. (1880-1962). Queen of the Netherlands and the longest-reigning Dutch monarch in history. SP. (“Wilhelmina”). 1p. Large folio. (Image size: 11” x 15¼”). N.p., N.d. A stunning photograph by Deutmann of the youthful queen standing and elegantly attired in a gown, fur wrap, long double strand of pearls, and large brooch. Wilhelmina ascended the throne upon her father’s death in 1890, but reigned under her mother’s regency until reaching her formal majority, on August 31, 1898. Exactly fifty years later, she abdicated in favor of her only child, Princess Juliana. Her long reign encompassed both world wars and the decline of Dutch colonialism. Boldly signed along the bottom edge of her gown. Two tiny abrasion marks on the surface. Elegantly framed and in very good condition.
