HEIFETZ, JASCHA. (1901-1987). Russian-born, American violinist. SP. (“Jascha Heifetz”). 1p. 4to. N.p., November 24, 1921. Inscribed to famed Ukrainian-American luthier, Abraham Koodlach (1890-1946), whose client list included Heifetz, Elman, Hubermann and other violin virtuosi. A lovely sepia photograph of Heifetz holding his violin in his left hand. Heifetz began his musical lessons at age three (Koodlach began restoring violins at eight!) and was performing outside his native Russia by eleven. On October 27, 1917, having fled the Russian Revolution by way of Serbia, he made a memorable American debut at New York’s Carnegie Hall. Heifetz is celebrated for his conscientious musical interpretations, as well as his flawless technical and tonal abilities. An attractive image darkly signed in the lower portion of the image. Slight crease in the upper left corner, otherwise in excellent condition. Elegantly matted and framed.
